GET READY FOR ONE OF MY NERDIEST MOST FIRST WORLDY POSTS YET
The other day I wrote about my general philosophy on gadgets. The day before I had upgraded due to my iPhone battery giving up the ghost and it being more worth it to upgrade than to repair it (it was a month out of warranty).
I've owned a lot of iPhones, most of them actually. Here's how I rank them:
5. iPhone 3GS (ugly and plastic)
4. iPhone 6 (ugly, too thin, battery life is garbage even if you have a non faulty battery)
3. iPhone 4 (Pretty, a lot of glass though)
2. iPhone 5 (The sexiest phone ever to be created in black. Mostly metal)
1. iPhone 6S+ (Heavier, amazing battery, huge eye-opening screen)
I'm pretty opinionated when it comes to these things because as time goes on, I spend more time with my phone as my nearly main computing device. If it doesn't satisfy my needs, I'm not into it.
I've never been sold on the feel of the iPhone 6, (I thought about returning it the day I bought it) since it was basically built to need a case. I don't like cases apart from my Incase snap case I have occasionally used, but the iPhone 6 was like holding a live fish in my hand without one.
I normally don't go for the new phone a year later, but the 6 just didn't sit right from day one.
The world has moved towards big screens and I wanted a happy medium between an iPhone and an iPad so the plus was what I wanted anyway. AT&T messed up my preorder of the 6plus and I'm impatient so I just settled. (Bad idea)
The 6S's changes are hardly worth upgrading. 3D Touch is almost useless although some shortcuts are useful, I haven't used Live Photos yet, and it's only slightly faster.
The best feature of the 6S+: it's slightly heavier. That's right, it feels oh so slightly better in my hand, which makes it easier to use. Oh yeah, and it's 8PM and I still have 70% battery.
It's amazing how much the small details matter.
If I have one request to Apple for the perfect iPhone, it would be a 6plus sized iPhone 5 in BLACK not "Space Gray".
