I had an entirely different blog post written up for today, but I then I decided to stop perpetuating the constant hell we've all been living every time we open our browsers.
I'm done with political posts. I don't feel like I get too politically heavy on this blog, but I have been guilty of it in the past. No longer.
I can't visit a gadget blog, movie review site, or listen to a comedy podcast without the mention of Trump or politics. I can't imagine the onslaught of derivative anti-Trump art that will come over everything like a tidal wave during the next 4 or 8 years. (hint: it's not original to hate Trump) Everything has been tainted. Nothing is sacred. SNL has forgone any sort of original content, because making fun of Trump is all that's funny anymore. Nothing in the world is getting reported in the news other than Trump. Certainly, there's other things going on in the world. I can only imagine who everyone is going to dress up as for Halloween.
In my mind, it would behoove the ones who claim that Trump is the bringer of the apocalypse to make some uplifting, less Trumpy material. Instead, the solution seems to be to go hysterical and live in a swamp of misery and pull everyone down with them.
I feel like any sort of political leanings I portray on my blog and Facebook and Twitter are contributing to the bad feelings and nightmare that is the internet today. We are way too comfortable in sharing our political opinions, as if we live in a consequences free world. When a business takes a political stance, it cuts down it's customer base. (Take the NFL for instance) When an "influencer" takes a bold political stance, get ready for possible backlash and a group of people that will never be interested in what you're making.
When creating a business, isn't the goal to make customers out of those who aren't already? When running for office, isn't the goal to convince the other side that your case is correct? We have totally forgotten this, and instead call the other half "deplorables" or "snowflakes".
Certainly, I've already revealed many of my political stances, which resulted in people unfollowing me. It's also resulted in ZERO change.
I'm going back to the way it was. No political talk. It's got to go back to some form of normalcy around here.
Sure, I've made promises like this before, but this time, as a sign of good faith, I've deleted my Twitter account. There's nothing productive about Twitter, and obviously it's not contributing to making the world less chaotic. I don't need the distraction, or the ability to blurt out whatever I'm thinking when I'm upset about something.
That's it. I'm going to move on from all this. It doesn't make life easier for anyone, especially me.
