Saw Lego Batman last night and was surprised by not only how good it was, but how good of a Batman movie it was. This was probably the best Joker plot we've ever had, because it managed to recognize how convoluted all of the villains' plans of the Batman universe are.
You think I'm joking, but I actually thought it was perfect. It was a mix of kitschy Batman and Batman: The Animated Series Batman (who is the best one in my opinion). What I found most surprising is how the same studio created Lego Batman that created Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, but Lego Batman was able to rip those movies a new one with all kinds of relevant humor.
Before you message me saying "What about Dark Knight?!" The Dark Knight is one of the greatest movies of all time but it's not one of best Batman movies of all time. Those Nolan films, while great (aside from Rises), aren't really "true" Batman. I think I also enjoyed Lego Batman because BvS and Suicide Squad has given me such distain for over-serious Batman that I want to go back to the serious/fun mixture of Batman: The Animated Series.
If you like Batman, you MUST see Lego Batman. Definitely in my top ten of the year most likely.
