Lately, I've been trying to carry around my camera(s) more, like I used to, because I find myself missing a lot. Anyway, I've done a few "What's in your bag" stuff, and I needed to update it for my 2017, non-vlogging life I live now.
First off is the big boy (pictured above): Nikon D800 w/ Sigma Art 24mm 1.4 (it's stupid easy to shoot with this camera, everything that comes out is beautiful. I feel absolutely limitless with this thing.
Canon EOS M3 w/ 11-22mm 3.5 - I bought this as a birthday present for myself when I found it on sale at the B&H Photo store when I was in NYC last year. I used it as a vlogging camera, and still use it for video, but now it's just a great travel camera. It's nice to have, and I still use the crap out of it. (as shown by the cracked screen which is not pictured) This camera can be found pretty cheap since the newer model just came out, and it's pretty great. Highly recommend. (I just want everyone to know how tolerant of a photographer I am as a Nikon AND Canon user.)
My beloved Nikon 85mm 1.8 lens - a great portrait lens, one I've used consistently for the past 3 years. It is still a very solid lens, but now that I've been exposed to the Sigma Art world, I can't help but look at other options. I've spent too much on camera gear lately, so it'll be a long while before "Old Faithful" here is replaced. This thing has quite a few miles left on it for sure.
iPhone 6S plus - I didn't really think I would add such a blah piece of equipment since everyone has one of these, but it occurred to me how special this phone really is. I don't even really like shooting photos with it or anything, it's noteworthy for a whole other reason: It's the first iPhone I've owned where I've been so content with it that I have no reason to want or need the next model. The screen is huge, the battery life is acceptable (becoming less so), and I've dropped it 1000 times and it hasn't cracked or been damaged. This has been a perfect phone.
Now, for the bag. You may be wondering, "Why did you write a bunch of words on this bag?" This bag is extremely special to me: I've owned it for the past 7 years and taken it all over the world. It is finally just now showing some wear, but it is a SPECTACULAR camera bag. I'm not sure you can even buy this anymore, but it is the best camera bag I've ever had. When I realized it hit its 7th anniversary, I started writing down all of the places I've taken it and soon I decided to tattoo it on the bag in remembrance. Of course, the bag still has a lot of life left, and quite a few new places to visit, but it has been a killer bag that fits all of the gear pictured above and more.
The bag is a Incase DSLR Sling Bag. When the day comes where this bag gives up the ghost, I'll probably pursue something as similar as possible. It's going to be hard to beat this one though.
