Can you binge-watch movies? Is that a thing?
Anyway, there's this movie on Netflix right now called Sing Street, and it's my favorite "movie I knew nothing about and just hit play" movie next to I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore.
Sing Street is a very fun and borderline inspirational movie about a group of Irish kids in the 80s who start a band while going to an oppressive Jesuit school. The economy in Ireland at the time was terrible, and many people were immigrating to London to find work. The main character has a dysfunctional family, a school bully, and a principal that wants to stop him at every turn, which is a recipe for any great movie about a kid doing something.
The main character gathers a group of dorky kids and a girl he's infatuated with, and they start a band who is trying to find their sound. They imitate all of the groups they love along the way, like any good artist does when they start out. This movie is just very funny, endearing, and sweet. The music is also great, so much so that I've downloaded the soundtrack and I've been playing it on repeat.
Go watch Sing Street on Netflix now, because you're missing out if you don't.
